Alex Tait ran an event in the House of Commons last week

Our Founder, Alex Tait, is not only the driving force behind Entropy – he’s also the Co-founder of Reform Political Advertising, a politically neutral, not-for-profit campaign calling for greater factual accuracy and transparency in election advertising.

Currently, election advertising is the only form of advertising in the UK with almost no regulation. Reform Political Advertising is working to change that – and these principles of factual accuracy and transparency are, of course, central to everything we do at Entropy too.

This week, Alex helped organise a landmark event at the House of Commons on “Preventing Disinformation and Misinformation in Campaigning.”

The session marked a major milestone for the campaign, with a packed room and a vibrant, cross-party discussion chaired by Lord David Puttnam.

The panel included:

  • George Freeman MP (Conservative Party)
  • Justin Madders MP (Labour Party)
  • Ellie Chowns MP (Green Party)
  • Ian Lucas, former Labour MP
  • Alex Tait, Reform Political Advertising

Across the political spectrum, there was clear agreement: the UK’s election and campaigning laws must be modernised to meet the challenges of the digital and AI era.

The upcoming Elections Bill offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do just that. Encouragingly, the government’s recent strategy paper includes several measures long advocated by Reform Political Advertising, such as:

  • Enhanced imprint rules – for the first time, election ads will have to clearly show which party they come from.
  • A code of conduct for campaigning – ensuring campaigns are conducted “with honesty and integrity and are not intentionally attempting to mislead the public.”

It was inspiring to see such a diverse audience – from long-time supporters (many meeting in person for the first time) to representatives from the advertising and marketing industries, journalists, MPs, and civil society organisations.
